Chitrakadi Vati (चित्रकादी वटी) - Benefits, Ingredients, Dose, Anupana, Indication

Ayurved believes that "रोगा: सर्वेsपि मन्दाग्नि जायते" I.e. Root cause for all Diseases are Mandagni (Poor Digestive Fire). If we want to cure any disease we should treat Mandagni first. Chitrakadi vati is very effective in treating Mandagni. Chitakadi Vati named due to presence of its active ingredient Chitraka (Plumbago Zeylanica). Chitrak enhances digestive fire (Jatharagni), which helps in removing Ama (Indigested Food Particles) and regulates proper digestion. 

"चित्रकं पिप्पलीमूलं द्वौ क्षारौ लवणानि च ।
व्योष हिंग्वजमोदाश्च चव्यञ्चैकत्र चूर्णयेत ।।
गुटिका मातुलुङ्गस्य दाड़ीमाम्ल रसेन वा ।
कृता विपाचयत्यामं दीपयत्याशु चानलम ।।"

16	मातुलुंग / दाड़िम स्वरस (भावनार्थ)	आवश्यकतानुसार

Dose :-

• 1 - 2 वटी (250 - 500 mg) once or twice day.

Anupana :-

• तक्र
• उष्णोदक

Effect on Tridosha :- 

• Balances Vata and Kapha & Improves Pitta.

Therapeutic use of Ingredients :-

Chitrak :-  

Chitrak is a potent Appetizing herb & strong Carminative, thats why used in treating various Intestinal conditions, Inflammation, Piles, Dysentery, Anorexia, Itching, Diseases of the liver.

Maricha :-

It improves Digestive tract function, helps in alleviating symptoms of Indigestion, Flatulence, Constipation, Dyspepsia, Skin diseses, Oliguria, Asthma etc.

Ajamoda :-

Ajamoda is used as Antispasmodic (in Abdominal Cramps), Anthelmintic, Carminative, Detoxifier etc. It is used for treating pain and inflammation, indigestion. 

Chavya :-     

Chavya is highly significant in treating of various Respiratory conditions like cough, asthma etc. Also useful in Abdominal pain, Indigestion, Bloating, Anorexia, Piles and worm infestation.

Pippali :-     

Pippali used for the treatment of Indigestion, Cough, Asthma, Heartburn, Diarrhoea, Menstrual Disorders, Oedema, Headache etc. 

Shunthi :-     

Shunthi is used in treatment of Dyspepsia, Weight loss, Flatulence, Vomiting, Indigestion, Anorexia. It is also used for treating Asthma, as well as an Immunomodulator.

Hingu :-

Hingu is a potent Antiflatulent, Carminative, Anti-bacterial, Anti-inflammatory. It is extremely useful in Stomach pain, Bloating, High blood pressure, Menstrual problems etc.

Lavana :-

The addition of various lavana balances the Electrolytes, also keeps the body hydrated. Due to the addition of Lavana it prevent muscle cramps and maintains vascular health. 

Sarjikakshaar :-

Acts as a strong antacid and treats stomach conditions, heartburn.

Yavkshaar :- 

Used as an additive for buffering the formulation.

Lemon Juice / Granatum Juice :-

The Lemon juice or Matulunga swaras in this formulation is to bind the powder particles of ingredients. It is rich in vitamin C, also acts as a potent Antioxidant. It promotes Digestion, Increases Appetite.

       Granatum juice is acts as a Hepatoprotective, Cardioprotective, Lipid Lowering agent, Wound Healing, Antioxidant, Antidiarrhoeal, Anthelmintic etc.
